2C Hebrew: Mazal Tov!

Today 2C had an ice cream party and visit from Rav Ronen In celebration of winning the Parsha Sheet Challenge! Rav Ronen congratulated the students and talked about this week's Parasha, Beha'alotcha. He explained that the Kohen Gadol was gifted with the task of lighting the Menorah. Then Rav Ronen showed us a picture of a replica of the Menorah in Yerushalayim and explained its significance. Mazal Tov 2C on a job well done!

2C Hebrew: Guessing Game

Yesterday the children in 2C made up their own guessing games. They worked in groups to create charts with distinguishing features of a chosen classmate. Each group presented in front of the class and gave clues using these distinguishing features, while their friends guessed who they were describing. The purpose of this exercise was to encourage the children to speak Hebrew, while practicing the use of descriptive language.   

2C Hebrew: Comics

This week the students in 2C have been learning words that help them ask and answer questions. They have practiced asking questions and writing questions based on answers that they are given. Today the children were tasked with writing comics. They wrote comic stories in which the characters asked and answered questions. I loved how everyone worked cooperatively, and wrote creative stories in high level Hebrew!

2C Hebrew: יום ירושלים

Today 2C began learning about יום ירושלים, which celebrates the return of Jerusalem to Jewish hands after the Six Day War in 1967. The children were delighted to watch the Kotel Camera, as they witnessed an IDF induction ceremony live on the Smart Board! Morah Tali also taught us about the different landmarks in Jerusalem and their significance. 

2C Hebrew: New Workbook and יש לי\אין לי

The children in 2C were very excited to receive a new workbook today! We started off the new workbook by learning how to write and say יש לי\אין לי- I have/I don't have. We played a fun game of true or false, where everyone said a sentence beginning with יש לי or אין לי and the other children had to guess whether the statement was true or false.  As a follow-up, everyone wrote sentences with יש לי\אין לי. I was so impressed with the level of Hebrew in everyone's writing and how far the children have come!

2C Hebrew: Healthy Food and Making Menus

Today the students in 2C learned the vocabulary words for many different types of food. They read a cute story about the importance of eating healthy food. The children in the story enjoy eating sweets and snacks, until they are met by Dr. Guf-Li (גוף-לי), who explains to them that they must eat many different types of healthy food, not just snacks.

As a fun follow-up, the children were challenged to create their own menus of healthy meals featuring the new vocabulary words that they learned. What delicious fun!
